Oncology Patient Education Forum

Practicing Clinicians Exchange and Smart Patients brought together cancer patients and clinicians specializing in oncology for a live panel discussion called the Fall Oncology Patient Education Forum.

You can find more educational resources here

Patient Track

The 2-hour patient-centric education track encompasses a spectrum of topics from initial oncology diagnosis to active treatment to survivorship.

The forum highlights:

  • How to improve dialog between patients and providers and explore becoming an “expert patient”.

  • How to navigate oncology treatment and beyond, including setting your treatment goals, initiating proactive discussions with your oncology team, and the importance of including a nurse (or APP) navigator on your care team.

  • How to draw up a road map to survivorship that provides for setting/resetting life goals, adhere to ongoing therapy, and maintaining necessary lifestyle changes

Patient Panel

The Fall Oncology Patient Education Forum ended with a 1-hour interactive panel discussion between healthcare professionals, cancer patients, and caregivers, highlighting the importance of the patient/provider relationship along the oncology treatment journey and being an engaged patient.
